Gomel-Bryansk business forum kicks off
GOMEL, 21 May (BelTA) - The regional business forum Gomel-Bryansk allows the two regions to boost existing business contacts and find new areas of cooperation, Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko said at the opening of the fifth regional business forum Gomel-Bryansk in the Belarusian city of Gomel on 21 May, BelTA has learned.
“Around 150 enterprises from Gomel Oblast export their products to Bryansk Oblast, while 100 enterprises import Bryansk goods,” Ivan Krupko said. He described mutual supplies of approximately 800 product categories as the foundation of overall trade. “This has driven its growth this year to 120%. High trade is the key to the well-being of our citizens,” he emphasized.
The governor noted that the forum not only helps boost existing business contacts but also helps discover new directions. “We cooperate in industrial co-production, housing and road construction, education, culture, sports, and implement joint projects for the patriotic education of youth,” Ivan Krupko cited as examples of cooperation between the two regions.
“Industrial integration today is represented not only by the flagships of our regions - Gomselmash and Bryanskselmash - but also by a new project involving Termotron Factory and Gomel Electrical Engineering Plant to manufacture products for the railways of the Russian Federation and CIS countries,” he added.
In December 2025, a second multi-apartment residential building constructed by Gomel House-Building Plant was put into operation in Bryansk. Plans for this year include two more sites for residential development, including with the participation of Mozyr House-Building Plant.
“A huge part of our interregional cooperation is joint work with the younger generation. We hold joint sporting events, cultural exchanges, and the International Festival Slavic Unity, which is over 50 years old, serves as a foundation for instilling traditional values, fostering friendship, and patriotism in our children,” the governor said.
He also emphasized that successful business development today is based on the exchange of experience, deep knowledge, and technologies, which makes it possible to find innovative solutions and increase competitiveness. The governor called direct business-to-business ties between regions the foundation of trade and economic cooperation between states. “We are committed to constructive interaction on all fronts that are relevant to our countries,” the governor assured.
“Results have been achieved, but the potential for developing partnership between our regions remains great, and it is within our power to build on the indicators we already have. I am confident that the outcomes of the forum will have a positive impact on further cooperation between Gomel Oblast and Bryansk Oblast,” Ivan Krupko said.
