Georgia shows interest in Belarusian agricultural practices

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Georgia is interested in studying Belarus’ best agricultural practices, Georgia President Giorgi Margvelashvili said in an interview to the Belarus One TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Georgia, just like Belarus, has been actively developing its agricultural sector. Unfortunately, we have done little in the sector after the Soviet Union collapsed. Those things you could preserve, develop and multiple did not take place in Georgia. Over two decades our agricultural industry was falling to pieces, and only now we start to actively develop our agriculture. Here, we are very much interested in the Belarusian experience,” said Giorgi Margvelashvili.

The President emphasized an important role of the state in the development of the agricultural sector in Belarus. “When I meet with my Belarusian friends, I always try to discuss these issues,” he said.

Giorgi Margvelashvili added that today Georgia imports a lot of agricultural products. “We will be adopting your experience in this area as well,” he said.
