Finnish companies may invest in Belarus’ woodworking sector

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Finland Alexander Ostrovsky met with representatives of the Finnish companies Nuorisosaatio Oy and Terry Invest Group to discuss possible investment in the woodworking sector of Belarus, BelTA learned from the website of the embassy.

“The parties discussed possible areas of investing in the woodworking sector of Belarus, matters pertaining to the setting up of a joint company to produce wooden building structures,” the embassy said.

According to the embassy, in 2016 Finland injected a total of $12.5 million of FDI in the Belarusian economy. The total amount of Finnish investments in Belarus over the recent years has exceeded $140 million.

Belarus is home to 30 companies with the Finnish capital, including eight joint ventures. There are also three representative offices of Finnish firms operating in the country.
