Export of Belarusian cheese up 11.7% in January-November 2021

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – In January-November 2021 the export of Belarusian cheese increased by 11.7% compared with the same stretch a year ago, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

“A total of 230,500 tonnes of Belarusian cheese worth $976 million were exported in January-November 2021. The growth rate to the same period in 2020 was 110.4% in physical and 111.7% in value terms, respectively. In January-November 2021, the country sold cheese to 26 countries. The main volume was exported to the CIS countries (including Russia),” the press service said.

Russia accounted for 93.4% of Belarusian cheese exports ($911.9 million, or 109.4% compared to January-November 2020). Other CIS countries bought 15,000 tonnes of cheese worth $62.7 million (124.6% and 124.3% compared to the same period last year, respectively). Deliveries to Kazakhstan rose by 18.5% (to $25.3 million), to Ukraine by 36.6% (to $26.3 million), to Kyrgyzstan by 2.9 times (to $2.8 million), to Uzbekistan by 67.5% (to $2.9 million), to Moldova and Azerbaijan by 44.2% and 44.1% (to $2 million).

Belarus shipped 224.8 tonne s of cheese worth $984,500 to the countries of Asia and Oceania, which was 2.8 times more year-on-year. The major markets were Mongolia and Georgia. Cheese was also shipped to Jordan, Japan, Singapore, China and Malaysia. In 2021, Belarus started to export cheese to Afghanistan.

Belarus exported 86.6 tonnes of cheese worth $452.500 to the Americas and the Caribbean, up more than two times year-on-year. Cheese exports to the United States increased to $429.800 (up by 2.5 times year-on-year). Belarus also made trial shipments to Antigua and Barbuda.
