The 19th nationwide universal exhibition-fair Euroregion Neman 2017 has brought together more than 160 exhibitors, including representatives of 15 companies from Italy, China, Azerbaijan, Latvia and Poland.

“For almost 20-year history, Euroregion Neman has become a business brand of sorts of Grodno Oblast. This exhibition is a good place for getting familiar with the region and for networking,” Vladimir Kravtsov said. He stressed that Euroregion Neman traditionally gathers many foreign guests, diplomats, accredited in Belarus, delegations of foreign countries. This time Grodno has welcomed guests from Russia (Komi Republic, Kaliningrad, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod and Tambov regions), China (Gansu Province), Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan.

The event showcases the investment potential of the region. Popular with foreign investors are agriculture and industry, woodworking in particular. The logistics industry holds great promise too. Grodno Oblast is a transit region, the transportation appeal of which is improving thanks to the upgrade of railways. This has drummed up interest among investors: new transportation and logistics centers, other projects have been devised and are already underway.

"The foreign guests show interest in the region. We can see it from an increased number of tourists. The visa-free regime in some part of Grodno District is also a contributing factor. We have submitted the documents to expand the visa-free zone to include the railway station and the airport of Grodno," Vladimir Kravtsov said. He stressed that the investors are interested in tourism. In particular, a project to establish a tourist complex in Voronovo District is being implemented by a company from Israel: the town of Radun has become one of the centers of worship tourism for Jews and attracts guests from all over the world

The program of Euroregion Neman 2017 includes a fair of tourism services including the presentation of the tourist and health improving potential of Grodno Oblast and the visa-free regime. An international investment forum entitled Grodno Oblast at the Crossroads of Borders will be also held as part of the expo. It usually results in signing different agreements and contracts.

The exhibition Euroregion Neman 2017 will be running on 21-23 September. In the last few years the exhibition has become one of the biggest projects of the cross-border union Euroregion Neman that initially comprised Belarus' Grodno Oblast, Poland's Suwalki, Lithuania's Alytus and Marijampole, and later other regions of Poland, Lithuania and Russia. The project is designed to step up cooperation between Grodno Oblast and the border territories of Lithuania, Poland, and Russia. The major goal of the exhibition is to expand trade and economic ties between neighboring states and seek options for the most successful and mutually beneficial cooperation.
