Development Bank to open $70m credit line to finance Belarusian exports to Africa

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – The Development Bank of Belarus will open a credit line for $70 million to finance Belarusian exports to the African region. A corresponding agreement was signed by the Development Bank of Belarus and the Trade and Development Bank of COMESA during a visit of the Belarusian delegation to Nairobi (Kenya) on 15 May, BelTA learned from the bank’s website.

“Our work in export financing is always aimed at creating opportunities for Belarusian enterprises to cooperate with any region in the world. Africa is a continent of vast economic potential, the region of special attention on the part of the world's leading exporters. With the support of our partners from TDB we will offer favorable terms to African companies that show interest in buying goods and services from Belarus. This will no doubt raise the interest in cooperation with Belarus. We need to maintain and strengthen this interest in order to keep our footing in the market,” Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank Sergei Rumas commented on the agreement.

Trade and Development Bank of COMESA is a trade and development financial institution founded in 1985 by 19 African member states of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa.
