Creating opportunities for investors named priority of Gomel Oblast investment policy

GOMEL, 12 October (BelTA) - The main priority of the regional investment policy is to create free, predictable, favorable conditions and opportunities for investors, Gomel Oblast Governor Vladimir Dvornik said when speaking at Business Days in Gomel, an international business event in the regional capital, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Dvornik said that the local authorities are on a constant search for new partners and new markets. Barriers to trade and technology, investment and labor are removed. “In a word, we are doing everything possible to make Gomel Oblast an attractive investment destination. These efforts have already borne some fruit. Today our region is home to 55 foreign enterprises and 960 enterprises with foreign capital,” Vladimir Dvornik noted.

To attract potential investors the region makes use of the well-established methods and also is searching for new ways of advertising Gomel Oblast as an effective platform for business. The Business Days in Gomel, which has gathered 25 delegations from 15 countries this year, seems a promising venue for investors exploring the investment opportunities of Gomel Oblast,” Vladimir Dvornik noted.

Among the participants of the forum are officials and businessmen from Russia, Latvia, Georgia, Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Mongolia, Vietnam and some other countries. Ukraine’s business community will be represented most widely as the country has sent five delegations.

The program of the forum includes a plenary session and five sessions dedicated to doing business in Belarus and abroad, interregional cooperation and cooperation between Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the use of information technologies in business, problems and development prospects of the free economic zones and also support to youth entrepreneurship.

The Business Days in Gomel is collocated with the 13th national universal exhibition Business in the Regions which primarily showcases processing industry (meat and dairy), construction industry (construction materials), the Free Economic Zone Gomel-Raton and also the organizations promoting foreign economic activity in Gomel Oblast (banks, insurance, logistics companies).
