Chinese money for home construction in Brest Oblast

BREST, 28 December (BelTA) – Plans have been made to involve Chinese capital in home construction in Brest Oblast in 2016, BelTA learned from Brest Oblast Governor Anatoly Lis during the joint session of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee and the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies on 28 December.

Over Br5 trillion is supposed to be spent on home construction in Brest Oblast in 2016, including about Br3.5 trillion as investments by citizens of Belarus. “The matter of spending grants from the People’s Republic of China to build social homes has been considered. Proposals have been prepared to build seven residential buildings, including four of them, which construction is supposed to begin in April 2016,” said Anatoly Lis. A total of 540,000m2 of housing is supposed to be built in Brest Oblast in 2016.

Investments have been vigorously channeled into housing construction this year. In January-November 2015 the annual housing construction target was exceeded by over 66%, with nearly 897,000m2 of housing built. As much as 45% of the total is intended for people on the housing register.

The construction of the bedroom block of Brest Oblast’s Tonus rehabilitation center for children is supposed to be finished in 2016 as one of the social sphere projects. The other ones include the modernization of the Brest Oblast endocrinology early treatment clinic and the hematology and infections wing of the Brest Oblast hospital. Among education facilities the Brest Oblast Governor mentioned the commissioning of a school combined with a children daycare center for 471 children in the city of Brest.

In 2016 work to find new markets for construction services, including outside the oblast and the country, will be continued. With this in mind work is already in progress to open representative offices of Brest Oblast civil engineering companies in the Russian Federation (Moscow, Kaliningrad, and Smolensk). The design of a 16-storey residential building that will use materials made by the Brest large-panel house building factory will be finished in 2016 and the home’s construction will begin. “We will continue working on the Garlyk mining and processing factory in Turkmenistan and on the Belarusian nuclear power plant. We plan to take part in building a nuclear power plant in Egypt,” stated the Brest Oblast Governor.
