China’s Hunan Province eager to cooperate with Belarus in IT, healthcare, transport

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – China’s Hunan Province suggests cooperation in information technologies, healthcare, and transport to Belarus. The idea was discussed as a Belarusian parliament delegation met with Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Province People’s Congress Wang Kemin on 27 March, the press service of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament told BelTA.

The sides discussed trade and economic cooperation as well as prospects of interparliamentary interaction. Wang Kemin remarked that electronics industry, information and communication technologies, production of railway transport vehicles and construction machines, healthcare, and pharmaceutics develop well in Hunan Province. “We are interested in partnership with Belarus in these areas,” he stressed.

As a successful example of bilateral cooperation Wang Kemin mentioned the establishment of the Zoomlion-MAZ joint venture. A factory to make utility vehicles will be built in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone as part of the project. There are plans to increase the output capacity up to $300 million per annum.

Wang Kemin also suggested expanding cooperation in agriculture and implementing joint projects in tourism and culture. “We set a high value on the promotion of business cooperation with Belarus. We welcome the arrival of your companies in our province and are interested in expanding the operation of our companies in Belarus,” he said.

In turn, Andrei Rybak, Chairman of the Industry, Fuel and Energy Complex, Transport, and Communications Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, thanked the Chinese side for the warm welcome on behalf of the delegation. He said he was confident that Belarus-Hunan Province trade can be substantially increased. In 2017 the figure stood at $7.8 million.
