China interested in cooperation in medical tourism with Belarus

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – China is interested in enhancing cooperation in medical tourism with Belarus, representative of China’s National Health Commission Zhang Meng said during a meeting with Belarusian Healthcare Minister Valery Malashko, BelTA has learned.

The parties discussed the prospects of the program to treat Chinese children in Belarus. The first group of children arrived in the country to undergo medical rehabilitation on 9 September. They are undergoing examination in the Belarusian National Children’s Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation. The course will last 20 days. Specialists will draw up individual rehabilitation plans for every child taking into account their health conditions.

“Before going to Belarus we asked the Belarusian Embassy in China about the Belarusian healthcare system. It is of a very high standard. During the visit we would like to learn more about your achievements. This time we would like to visit the major children’s treatment and rehabilitation hospitals, to bolster ties between healthcare organizations and outline ways of cooperation,” Zhang Meng said.

According to Valery Malashko, Belarus will do its utmost to make sure the treatment of the patients suffering from serious pathologies is successful.

The Belarusian Healthcare Ministry is also hosting a delegation of Chinese colleagues. Chinese specialists are set to visit several science centers to understand what pathologies can be treated in Belarus. “Our institutions meet high international standards. I am sure that the inspection will end successfully and we will be able to provide medical services to children suffering from cancer and musculoskeletal system diseases,” the minister said.

Valery Malashko believes that the cooperation strategy in provision of healthcare to Chinese children will make the basis for similar work with adult patients. Belarus is ready to provide medical services to Chinese citizens.
