MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) - The Great Stone industrial park has welcomed a new resident - China-Belarus innovation center for industrial technology, BelTA has learned.

The project involves the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Academy of Sciences of Guangdong Province, and the Foshan Institute of Industry Technology (PRC). The center will be based at the innovation center to commercialize R&D in the park.

This is the 65th resident company of the park, Head of the Administration of the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone Aleksandr Yaroshenko noted. "It is very important and symbolic. We are creating a platform to develop scientific ideas, to make them ready for commercialization in industry. This idea was at the heart of the Great Stone concept. But it took us some time to put it into practice and build a center to commercialize R&D. The building that will host this center will be launched literally next month,” he said.

By welcoming the new resident company the Great Stone has reaffirmed its innovative edge, Aleksandr Yaroshenko said.

First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Sergei Chizhik, for his part, noted: “This is a very important event for the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of Guangdong Province. We worked on this project for a long time looking for concrete projects that will would unite us in this center. Today we can say that the first stage of this work has been completed. Now we have to work out the mechanisms of interaction and financing of the project. It is very important that we begin to work at the level of research and development, which will translate into concrete technologies and production in about two or three years.”

The center will also conduct its own scientific research in new materials, modern industrial technologies, digitalization in industry, bio- and eco-technology, Sergei Chizhik added.
