BREST, 15 April (BelTA) - The international business contact forum “First Region: Territory of Success” will take place in Brest on 28-29 April, Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik told BelTA.

The key goal of the forum is to develop international cooperation, strengthen ties, seek new partners, and exchange experience. “We will discuss manufacturing, tourism, culture, education, and healthcare. India, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, and African countries (Sudan, Nigeria, Zimbabwe) have accepted our invitation,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.

He noted that enterprises in the region achieved solid results in goods and services exports during the previous five-year period. In particular, shipments to Russian regions and to China increased significantly. “We are looking for additional ways to establish contacts in order to diversify exports of products manufactured in Brest Oblast. We must prepare to open new markets,” the governor explained.

The forum will include a plenary session, thematic sections, and a contact and cooperation exchange. “We will present Brest Oblast, talk about our activities, existing industries, and business opportunities. Our partners will be assigned to sections according to the areas where they seek cooperation. The [Belarusian] Industry Ministry with an exhibition, as well as the light industry sector, have confirmed their participation. It will be interesting to see and speak with manufacturers,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.

The program also includes presentations of the potential of Brest, Pinsk, Baranovichi, the Brest Free Economic Zone, and the region’s logistics capabilities. Off-site events are planned, including visits to leading industrial enterprises and to tourist and social facilities. “Businesses in Brest Oblast have shown great interest in this event. The focus is on cooperation with distant countries. There are growth points in China and Africa, but this is not enough to feel confident and secure in the long term,” the governor emphasized.
