Bellesbumprom’s furniture export to non-CIS states 36.4% up

Bellesbumprom’s furniture export to non-CIS states 36.4% up

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – Enterprises run by the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom exported $36.38 million worth of furniture to non-CIS states in January-October 2020, nearly 1.4 times up from January-October 2019, BelTA has learned.

This year Bellesbumprom enterprises have been putting more efforts into exporting wooden products with the highest added value, in particular, furniture. Furniture production is the backbone of the woodworking industry. Furniture production boasts the highest wood conversion ratio. This is why increasing the output of ready-made products and their export is one of the industry’s strategic tasks designed to bolster the effectiveness of usage of raw wood and the woodworking industry’s performance as a whole. The efforts produce results, Bellesbumprom’s Press Secretary Ruzhena Novitskaya noted.

While the level of activity on foreign markets drops due to the epidemic situation, in January-October 2020 Bellesbumprom enterprises increased furniture export to non-CIS states by nearly 1.4 times (36.4%) to $36.38 million. The bulk of the shipments went to the European Union ($35.6 million).

Cooperation with the world’s largest retailers is high on the list of priorities in Bellesbumprom’s furniture export. Bellesbumprom enterprises established cooperation with a number of retailers of that caliber in the last few years. Benefits of such cooperation include long-term contracts and steady sales. Ivatsevichdrev, FanDOK, Mogilevdrev, Gomeldrev, and some other Bellesbumprom enterprises actively work with European retail chains. Molodechnomebel has recently started shipping products to a major retail chain that sells merchandise in 20 countries via its own online shops. Pinskdrev has been working with large buyers in Europe for many years already. The company increases non-CIS export volumes every year in addition to expanding the product choice.

Bellesbumprom’s overall export increased by 2.6% to $491.8 million in January-October 2020.

Bellesbumprom’s enterprises exported 75.6% of their output in period, up from 68.4% in January-October 2019.

The exported products included wood-based panels (23.3%, $101.3 million), furniture (20.6%, $101.3 million), cellulose pulp (nearly 16%, $78.2 million), paper and pasteboard (12.3%, $60.3 million), and plywood (11.6%, $75.3 million).

The top markets for Bellesbumprom enterprises are Russia, Poland, China, Ukraine, and Lithuania. At present Bellesbumprom products are exported to 67 countries across the globe.
