BelAZ ships three haul trucks to Korshunov Mining Plant in Russia

MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ has delivered three haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 130 tonnes to Korshunov Mining Plant (part of the Russian industrial group Mechel), the company’s press service told BelTA.
The new BelAZ-75131 haul trucks were delivered to the Rudnogorsk quarry in Irkutsk Oblast where some 130-tonne trucks are already in use. The new trucks will be fitted with wheels soon.
“The BelAZ trucks will be employed to haul mined rock as part of the efforts to expand the mining area. The move will allow the mining company to get access to new iron ore deposits, will increase the volume of overburden removal, and will secure some serious headway into making iron ore concentrate,” said Mikhail Mazhukin, Managing Director of Korshunov Mining Plant.
The BelAZ-75131 haul trucks are designed to operate in complicated Siberian mining conditions. They are powered by a reliable and economical four-stroke diesel engine with the output capacity of 1,600hp. The vehicles use electric transmission with start-control devices based on microelectronics and an effective electrodynamic braking system. The driver’s cab boasts an efficient vibration and noise cancellation system and an air conditioner.
An agreement on strategic cooperation between BelAZ and Mechel has been in effect since 2011. The modern fleet of BelAZ vehicles used by Korshunov Mining Plant comprises about 20 trucks. Mechel’s Korshunov Mining Plant is Eastern Siberia’s only mining and dressing plant with its own resource base made up of the Korshunov and the Rudnogorsk quarries.
