BelAZ ships 20 haul trucks to Taimyr Peninsula in Russia

MINSK, 20 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian haul truck manufacturer BelAZ has resumed deliveries to the Polar Division branch of PAO GMK Nornickel by shipping 20 haul trucks, the Belarusian company’s press service told BelTA.
The entire batch of haul trucks BelAZ-7555V was made to specifications of the Russian company on the basis of experience of long-operation of such trucks in difficult mining conditions.
It is a unique batch. The company received technical design specifications in late August. In early September BelAZ started making the trucks. 13 trucks were shipped to Krasnoyarsk Territory in September. Another seven trucks were shipped in October. All the trucks were shipped by rail to the Dudinka port – the world’s only Far North port that stays open through the year. The trucks will be shipped from the port to the place where they will be assembled and put to use.
According to BelAZ representatives, the new trucks are designed to operate in extreme winter conditions while boasting all the conventional operational parameters.
The new BelAZ trucks will be used to transport rock mass to excavation heaps of Nornickel’s Polar Division branch. They will transport waste slag of steel mills and will be used for other operations as well.
OOO BelTransLogistic, BelAZ’s official representative in Russia, is the company in charge of delivering, assembly, and aftersales service of the new trucks. The company managed to win the tender thanks to constant contacts between the dealership and the management of PAO GMK Nornickel, joint trips to the places where sophisticated aftersales service for BelAZ vehicles is provided, and the introduction of innovative technologies that meet modern market requirements into business processes.
The Polar Division branch of PAO GMK Nornickel is located in the Taimyr Peninsula, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia. Its operations focus on the North Siberia nickel-bearing metallogenic province. The ore in the area of the city of Norilsk is unique: nickel content in the ore can be as high as 3% and more.
