MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Another Boeing 737-800 is to be added to the aircraft fleet of the Belarusian national airline Belavia in March 2015, Belavia Director General Anatoly Gusarov told reporters on 4 February, BelTA has learned.
“Several days ago we presented Belavia’s first Boeing 737-800 at the National Airport Minsk. Another one will be due in March,” Anatoly Gusarov said.
The delivery of three new Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be part of the efforts to renew and expand the company’s aircraft fleet. Anatoly Gusarov reminded that in June 2014 Belavia and Boeing signed the contract to purchase the first Boeing 737-800 jet from the manufacturer. Later, the partners agreed to revise the delivery deadline from 2017 to 2016.
The purchase of the new aircraft will allow Belavia to take out of service Tu-154M planes that are less economically efficient.
At present Belavia operates 26 aircraft with the total seating capacity of 3,136 passengers.
