MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – The woodworking holding company Borwood has started shipping products to Mexico and Ireland, BelTA has learned.

Borwood is busy restoring the volume of foreign sales back to normal after demand went down due to the pandemic and quarantine restrictions in a number of foreign countries. In June Belarusian Forest Company (the company in charge of selling Borwood’s slab products) increased merchandise export by 49.3% in comparison to May. Shipments to Armenia, UK, Denmark, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, Romania, Tajikistan, and Croatia more than doubled in U.S. dollar terms. As part of the efforts to diversify target markets in H1 2020 the company started selling plywood to Mexico and medium-density fiberboards (MDF) to Ireland.

The choice of products made by Borwood enterprises grows larger. In June the Vitebskdrev enterprise started making moisture-resistant MDFs while Mostovdrev started making films of different density and color for plywood lamination. In July Mozyrsky DOK will commission four new drying chambers of Italian make.

The holding company Borwood unites nine woodworking enterprises, a forest harvesting enterprise, and a dedicated sales operator (Belarusian Forest Company). UP BR-Consult, a daughter enterprise of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus, is in charge of managing the holding company. Over 80% of the output of Borwood enterprises is exported to over 40 countries.
