VITEBSK, 30 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian TV manufacturer Vityas intends to make an engineering prototype of a 200kW superfast electric charging station for electric vehicles by the end of the year, BelTA learned from Vityas Chief Engineer Valery Zaitsev.

The station is being designed as part of the government program on innovative development in 2016-2020. It is financed by the national innovation fund as well as Vityas’ own resources in equal proportions. In order to handle strong electric currents, the station will be fitted with a liquid cooling system. It will have a CCS Combo 2 power plug and will need about 10 minutes to fully charge a vehicle able to utilize the potential of such charging stations. Vityas is the first Belarusian electric vehicle infrastructure manufacturer to offer high-power charging devices.

In a bid to implement the program on setting up a state chain of charging stations for electric vehicles Vityas cooperates with the industrial group Belorusneft. The latter is in charge of developing the vehicle charging infrastructure. In 2019 Vityas shipped 20 direct-current 50kW charging stations to Belorusneft and won a tender for the delivery of another 100 fast DC charging stations. As many as 43 stations will be shipped to the customer by the end of the year while the other ones will be delivered in 2021. In addition to shipping more fast charging stations in 2021 Vityas also intends to provide Belorusneft with superfast charging station prototypes.

At present Vityas’ portfolio features over 10 models of innovative products starting with slow 22kW charging stations and ending with fast 50kW ones. In 2020 the company’s electric charging station design and manufacturing practices were certified for compliance with the international standard STB ISO 9001-2015. The first charging station Vityas ES-301 was installed at a parking lot near the company in 2017. Owners of any electric vehicle can use it. At present motorists can charge their vehicles using Vityas charging stations in all the oblast capitals of Belarus.

The Vitebsk television factory Vityas was founded in 1976. In 2010 the enterprise was incorporated into a public joint-stock company (OAO), with the state owning 100% of the stock. At present OAO Vityas makes TV sets, medical equipment, modern charging stations for electric vehicles and other high-technology products, and offers a broad range of manufacturing services. The company employs over 1,000 people.
