MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) will organize the first session to export fuel pellets made of sunflower peelings on 16 August, the BUCE press service told BelTA.

A test lot of 250 tonnes will be offered for sale for now. This lot is supposed to be sold via a combined trade session for selling fuel products. The trade session will also offer wood shavings and waste wood, peat briquettes, wood pellets, and firewood.

The BUCE press service said that fuel granules or pellets made of sunflower peels are an exotic product for now although in Western Europe they enjoy demand as strong as demand for more conventional wood pellets. The heat output of pellets made of sunflower peels exceeds that of wood pellets while the former boast a lower prime cost. The trade session will be organized upon request of the company that makes sunflower peel pellets. The company wants to use Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange capabilities for selling its products. The BUCE complied with the request because it already offers a broad range of fuel products, including those made of renewable raw materials. The list of traded products is expanded all the time. It is often expanded upon the initiative of sellers or buyers.

Sunflower peel pellets are a byproduct in the production of vegetable oil. The calorific value of these pellets makes 4.3-4.5kW per 1kg or 1.5 times as much as the calorific value of wood. Ash content does not exceed 3%.
