Belarusian truck maker VIPO now makes municipal vehicles

Belarusian truck maker VIPO now makes municipal vehicles

VITEBSK, 10 February (BelTA) – The Vitebsk-based truck manufacturer VIPO now offers municipal vehicles. The company has recently rolled out the first garbage truck pilot model, the company’s Director Andrei Sidorov told BelTA.

The garbage truck is an import-substituting product, with the share of Belarus-made components at 70%. The designers took into account cutting-edge practices of the best competitors. The garbage truck can carry 19m3 of garbage or 7.5 tonnes of waste. It is based on a MAZ-5340 chassis and is fitted with an automatically sliding-out tailgate stepladder, rearview cameras for safe handling in tight spots (particularly handy in urban conditions), and additional rear lamps for lighting the work environment. The truck can automatically press collected garbage.

The fact that the company offers garbage trucks at a price 15% lower than competitors is a serious advantage. Partners from Kazakhstan and Ukraine have already placed purchase orders with VIPO Company.

The Vitebsk-based company intends to batch produce the new vehicle. A shop occupying 4,000m2 will be built for it. It is supposed to be commissioned in November 2020. About 30 jobs will be created thanks to the project. The company intends to make about 20 garbage trucks per month, increasing the overall output by 40%. The future lineup of garbage trucks will feature up to 16 modifications to suit customers’ demands. The company intends to use existing premises for now to make 5-8 garbage trucks per month.

In 2019 VIPO Company’s output growth rate was close to 126%. The company exported about 90% of the products it made to CIS and non-CIS states. About 40 jobs were created, new production floor space as large as 3,000m2 was commissioned. The company invested about $1 million of its own resources in the project. The money was spent on buying equipment. The company designed two new hydraulic hoist models (with the lifting height of 15 and 45 meters) and started batch-producing hydraulic hoists with the lifting height of 50, 52, and 56 meters. The company intends to double the volume of investment this year taking into account the sketched out plans.

“Exporting our products is our key goal,” Andrei Sidorov stressed. “I believe every enterprise should work hard on it and pay close attention to the economic and quality aspects of its work.” He remarked that the company’s sales profitability averages at 24-28%. The executive also said he was pleased with how the company had managed to resolve its personnel problems. “Thanks to the current conditions we have a steady team in place, a large human resources pool ranging from blue-collar professions to engineering manpower,” the director noted.

The private company Mechanical Engineering company Vitebskiye Podyemniki (VIPO trademark) was founded in 2004. It is part of a group of mutually complementary corporations that specialize in the development of production of lifting and transportation equipment. The company has mastered the production of about 85 vehicle models, including drilling rigs, cranes, hydromanipulators, and hydraulic hoists. The company makes about 450 vehicles of various types every year. VIPO Company is a corporate partner of leading Belarusian and Russian automobile engineering companies. VIPO Company employs about 320 people.
