Belarusian tinned food company Gorynsky Agro starts selling to European Union

BREST, 9 January (BelTA) – The tinned food company Gorynsky Agro, which is located in Stolin District, Brest Oblast, has shipped the first batch of its products to the European Union market, BelTA learned from the company’s Director Vasily Kovalets.

Branded with the Goryn trademark, the products were shipped to retail in Baltic states and Germany. A total of 12 titles of tinned food in glass jars were shipped. Europeans will be able to appreciate various kinds of snacks made of vegetables and mushrooms using organic food and original recipes.

The source specified that 20 tonnes of tinned food had been shipped as the pilot batch. New deliveries will be arranged after the New Year celebration. “We have signed a contract with the distribution company Monolith Baltic from Latvia. No annual plans have been made but we intend to work together for a long time,” specified Vasily Kovalets.

The executive noted that prior to shipping the tinned food to Europe they had worked hard to upgrade and retool the production facilities. As much as Br3.4 million was invested in reconstructing the vegetable cannery. A new boiler house and a vegetable storage facility were built. The efforts have allowed the company to master new kinds of products, reduce prime costs, and keep the workers employed all the year round. At present the company employs 200 workers. Their number is increased by 2.5 times during the procurement season.

In 2017 the company Gorynsky Agro made 19.7 million reference jars of tinned food. Tinned cucumbers and green peas represented half of the volume. The company processed 2,500 tonnes of green peas, 1,000 tonnes up from 2016 or three times as much as in 2015. Respectively areas under green peas and the production of green peas are on the rise.

The enterprise Gorynsky Agro was established in 1960. It is part of the Brest Oblast food group Brestmiasomolprom and offers a wide choice of vegetable and fruit preserves. Those are natural and cooked foods, snacks, pickles, vegetable and fruit juices, birch tree juice, compotes, fruit jams, and other products.
