MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – The first transaction for the sale of textile products to Uzbekistan has been concluded on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the exchange’s press service told BelTA.
The pioneer was a Belarusian manufacturer of knitwear, which sold clean wool noils (a by-product of spinning consisting of short wool fibers) through exchange trading. The transaction amounted to 107 tonnes, and the buyer was a textile enterprise from Uzbekistan. Notably, this company had previously participated in exchange trading only as a seller, supplying cotton yarn to the Belarusian market.
“Expanding the range of goods sold through export exchange trading is a priority area of the exchange's foreign trade strategy. The appearance of a new product category in the exchange's exports to Uzbekistan is positive for the growth of trade between our countries. This year, lumber, meat and meat by-products, skimmed milk powder, butter, and now textile products have been actively supplied to the Uzbek market through the exchange. In January-November, the value of transactions for the sale of Belarusian goods to Uzbekistan more than doubled, reaching $107 million. At the same time, the share of import contracts in bilateral trade still does not exceed 1%, mainly consisting of various types of yarn,” the exchange’s press service noted.
As of 10 December 2025, BUCE accredited 250 Uzbek companies, with 73 new participants joining the Belarusian exchange platform since the beginning of the year.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
