"Today, Belarusian State Technological University works in the field of high technologies and runs 17 science and pedagogical schools that have become widely known both in Belarus and abroad, and interacts with more than 200 research and educational organizations from 40 countries," BSTU Rector Igor Voitov said. “The university is engaged in a wide range of scientific research. These are promising composite materials and nanomaterials, aerospace research, advanced technologies, highly efficient machines and tools, modern fundamental and applied research in forestry, woodworking, pulp and paper, chemical, microbiological, pharmaceutical, printing and electronic industries, machine and instrumentation, information systems and programming, standardization systems, etc."

According to him, cooperation with universities, research centers and organizations of the People's Republic of China is one of BSTU's international priorities. "Thanks to the dynamic development of Belarusian-Chinese relations, the number of  our partners is increasing annually. As of today, BSTU has 17 cooperation agreements with universities and organizations of the People's Republic of China," he said.

BSTU maintains close relations with Guangdong Province, largely thanks to the Guangdong- CIS International Technological Cooperation Union. “Belarus and China exchanged more than 40 visits from 2017 to 2019 to discuss cooperation in science, technology and innovations,” the rector said.

In 2017, Belarusian State Technological University joined the Silk Road High Tech Park Alliance.

“Over the past three years, the university in cooperation with Chinese partners has implemented a number of R&D works, including the project to evaluate the capacity of the LED market in Belarus and the possibility for promoting this product in Belarus and the EAEU with the help of Fujian Hongbo Optoelectronics Technology Co, the project to landscape the main streets of the Great Stone Industrial Park, the project to develop foam concrete using Belarusian raw materials for the Green tech house project of SUMMAKE, and others,” said Igor Voitov.

Chinese partners also helped develop joint educational programs in such areas as “Chemical Manufacturing Machines and Devices and Construction Materials Enterprises”, “Automation of Technological Processes and Productions”, “Mechatronics”, and others. “We welcome the proposal to train students from Guangdong Province at our university. In a few days we will send a letter with a list of majors and the possibility to enroll students,” he stressed.

According to the rector, last year the university was a regular participant in various Belarusian-Chinese exhibitions, contests, forums and conferences. “The most important challenges for all countries in the recent years have been global warming and global reduction of carbon emissions. In 2015, a total of 186 nations signed the Paris Agreement to keep global warming within 1.5 degrees and reduce total emissions by 55% by 2030. In general, green technology means not only environmentally friendly end products, but also environmentally friendly technologies. In this regard, we have signed a cooperation agreement with Chinese companies today. We are interested in implementation of the projects aimed at the new energy industry and environmental safety of our state,” Igor Voitov said.
