Belarusian scientists to facilitate work of local automaker MAZ

MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) – How organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) can help the Belarusian automobile engineering company MAZ tackle current tasks was discussed as a delegation of the academy visited the enterprise, BelTA has learned.

The delegation was led by Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov. The official noted that all the conditions are in place for continuing long-term cooperation and for realizing new joint projects: a desire, professional competences of specialists, and experience.

Director General of OAO MAZ, managing company of the holding company BelavtoMAZ Valery Ivankovich described relations between the automaker and the National Academy of Sciences by saying: “A friend who is always ready to lend a shoulder.”

After a tour of the enterprise and a glance at an exhibition of MAZ’s products representatives of the academy met with MAZ specialists to discuss possibilities for expanding the participation of NASB organizations in the company’s routines relating to the introduction of new materials and technologies as well as cutting-edge R&D products into business processes.

Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) is one of Belarus' largest mechanical engineering companies. It specializes in making heavy-duty trucks, special-purpose vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, and trailing units. MAZ vehicles are compliant with the environmental standards Euro-3, 4, 5, and 6. The company makes a total of over 500 models and 3,000 modifications of tractor units, dropside trucks, and chassis for mounting various kinds of equipment.
