Belarusian Railways to transport freight from Vietnam to Europe

Belarusian Railways to transport freight from Vietnam to Europe

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – A delegation of Belarusian Railways is taking part in the 34th Conference of General Directors (Authorized Representatives) of OSJD Railways in Seoul, Republic of Korea on 8-12 April, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Railways press service.

First Deputy Head of Belarusian Railways Igor Shilov met with the deputy director general of Vietnam Railways to discuss freight delivery by rail from Vietnam to Europe, including to Belarus and back. An agreement was reached to establish long-term transport and logistics contacts between the Belintertrans Transport-Logistics Center of Belarusian Railways and the rail transportation and trading company Retraco (a subsidiary of Vietnam Railways). The parties are mulling over the implementation of promising projects to deliver freight by rail on the Asia-Europe-Asia route, including the use of the transport and logistics center Kolyadichi.

The transport and logistics center Kolyadichi is a leading hub for processing large-tonnage containers and heavy cargoes. It handles and ships freight to the regions of Belarus, the CIS, Baltic states and other countries, and provides opportunities of using rail and road transport. The terminal applies a dry port technology, which means that a single technological process unites warehouses, auxiliary premises, road and rail access roads, and open storage areas for containers.
