MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – The international conference From Europe to China via New Silk Road: International Logistics through Belarus will be held in Frankfurt am Main on 25 April, BelTA learned from the press center of Belarusian Railways.

The forum will be organized by the Belarusian Railways company with the support of the Belarusian embassy in Germany. Taking part in the event will be major companies which dominate the market of Europe-China-Europe railway transportations. The participants will include heads and representatives of railway companies, ports, logistics terminals from Belarus, Germany, Russia, Latvia, Poland, China, Kazakhstan, Czechia, and the Netherlands.

The main topic of the conference will be container transportation from Europe to China. The event will focus on the development of multimodal services. The participants will also discuss possibilities to develop freight railway transportation from Europe to Asia, ways to ease switching from 1,520 mm to 1,435 mm track gauges, effective partnership of national railway and transport companies, operators of supply chains of freight transportation.

“The conference will be held in the form of plenary sessions and discussions. The participants will discuss new approaches to cooperation in the transport market, exchange best practices and ideas about efficient ways to run transport business,” the press center noted.

Belarusian Railways views the development of container transportation to China as the most promising strategic area. The company aims to create conditions for expanding transportation geography and stepping up freight traffic from the EU to China. In part, this aim is facilitated by the company’s participation in the agreement on strengthening cooperation between the railway companies of China, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Poland, and Russia.
