MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – Ekman & Co AB (Gothenborg, Sweden) will sign an exclusive dealership agreement with Svetlogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill (Belarus) to promote, market, and sell the plant’s sulfate hardwood and softwood pulp in Luxembourg on 27 October during the Belarusian-European Investment Forum, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom.

The press service remarked that this deal will become a milestone for the Belarusian pulp and paper industry and economy in general as it will help introduce a new domestic investment product to the global market. The fact that the document will be signed during the forum shall underline the integration of Belarusian manufacturers with the world leader in the sales of value-added wood products, including the most sought-after one in this sector, namely pulp.

Enlisting the help of the well-established world dealer to sell sulfate hardwood and softwood pulp, which is a new product for Belarus, will chart the fastest and most effective way to the world’s most profitable and promising markets. Cooperation with such a large operator reduces competitive risks for the manufacturer and guarantees long-term sales.

The products to be supplied to Ekman are estimated at $600 million. The Swedish company will also invest $5 million in building up the Belarusian pulp brand and introducing new products to the market.

Ekman has won an open international tender among world dealers to sell, promote, and market Svetlogorsk-made pulp. Founded in Sweden in 1802, Ekman is the world leader in sales and marketing in forestry industry, and also the world’s largest independent pulp supplier. Operations are coordinated from the company’s hubs in Gothenburg, Miami, Hong Kong, Zurich and Wall. It is represented in over 100 countries, operating its own sales offices in about 40 locations worldwide. Ekman sells 2.7 million tonnes of pulp per annum.

Bellesbumprom Chairman Yuri Nazarov and Director General of Svetlogorsk Pulp and Paper Mill Yuri Kruk are taking part in the Belarusian-European Investment Forum in Luxembourg. The forum is meant to provide an effective and result-oriented multi-level platform for establishing stable interaction between Belarusian financial institutions and commercial entities with European partners and promote the strongest aspects of the Belarusian economy in the Western business community.
