Belarusian MTZ tractors dominate Russian market

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – The share of tractors made by the Belarusian company MTZ in the total number of tractors in use in Russia is close to 85%, BelTA learned from the MTZ website.

Belarusian tractors remain leaders on the markets of Russia and Kazakhstan. It was confirmed by the figures voiced by representatives of MTZ trading houses during a review conference in Moscow Oblast.

For instance, the share of MTZ tractors in Russia’s tractor fleet is close to 85%. Yet the number of tractors per hectare of plough lands remains low while the share of tractors more than ten years old is significant. Experts believe that these facts will raise the demand for Belarusian tractors in the future.

Agricultural companies are particularly interested in the latest high-performance tractors made by MTZ. “We should step up efforts in this field. Selling fewer tractors with higher performance is an international trend,” stressed Yuri Pototurko, MTZ Acting First Deputy Director General, MTZ Marketing Director. High-performance tractors enjoy the highest demand in regions with well-developed agriculture, in particular, in Russia’s south.

“We have seen positive trends emerge since the beginning of the year. We now focus on racking up output figures in order to satisfy the market demand,” stressed Yuri Pototurko.

Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ for short) intends to increase export by more than 10% in 2017.
