MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – In Q1 2020, the Belarusian tractor maker MTZ doubled export to Tajikistan, BelTA learned from the press service of the enterprise.

“In January-March 2020, we shipped more than 100 tractors and tractor knock-down kits to Tajikistan, twice as many as in the same period of last year,” the press service noted.

The market of Tajikistan is strategically important among the other CIS countries. MTZ products are promoted and sold in Tajikistan by two enterprises that are part of the MTZ distribution network. One of them features an assembly plant and a center of Belarusian machinery.

Since January 2020, MTZ spare parts and knock-down kits supplied to Tajikistan have been exempt from value added tax and customs duties, the MTZ press service noted. “These benefits are expected to help expand cooperation between our countries,” the press service stressed.

MTZ is the leading manufacturer of agricultural wheel tractors in the CIS. “The share of machinery of the BELARUS trademark in the total output of wheeled tractors in the CIS amounted to 88% in 2019. The share of Belarusian machinery in the markets of most CIS countries varies from 40% to 80%,” the enterprise said.

Last year, MTZ increased its export to Kazakhstan and Armenia by 2.2 times. In Q1 2020, it also reported growth in shipments to some other CIS countries.

More than 30 entities of the MTZ distribution network operate in the CIS member states, over 15 assembly plants have been set up on their basis. “In the wake of the epidemiological situation in the world and measures adopted by governments, all entities of the distribution work continue operating in a normal regime or remotely. All orders of dealers and trade houses are handled in time,” the press service added.
