Belarusian MAZ signs $1m contract to sell vehicles to Uzbekistan

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian automobile engineering company MAZ has signed a contract to ship $1 million worth of vehicles to Uzbekistan, representatives of the exhibition enterprise BelInterExpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) told BelTA.

The agrarian forum Uzbekistan-Belarus took place in Tashkent on 24 November. It was timed to the organization of a Belarusian exposition at the agriculture expo UzAgroExpo and the food expo UzProdExpo. The protocol of the second session of the Belarus-Uzbekistan working group on agriculture and food industry was signed as a result as well as an agreement between MAZ’s official distributor in Uzbekistan MAZ-Tashkent Company and Nurafshon Maxsus Texnika Company on shipping $1 million worth of mechanical engineering products.

A broad range of matters concerning Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation in agriculture and food production was discussed during the meeting. Financial support for exporting Belarusian goods and services to Uzbekistan, peculiarities of their promotion on the local market, and peculiarities of interaction in animal husbandry were also discussed.

Heads of the relevant ministries and government agencies of Belarus and Uzbekistan, representatives of the Belarusian private sector and the Uzbek one, representatives of scientific, educational, and animal husbandry organizations, Belarusian and Uzbek agribusiness experts took part in the meeting.

Belarus was represented by 17 companies, which products are showcased in the national pavilion of the country, as well as the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, the Education Ministry, Belarusian universities, confectionery producers, and other participants.

Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksei Bogdanov noted: “Uzbekistan is a strategic partner of our country. We’ve been working with Uzbekistan for a long time. We’ve worked out several directions of cooperation in the near future. First of all, we are talking about the construction and reconstruction of a dairy complex in Uzbekistan using Belarusian technologies. Uzbek colleagues are interested in their agribusiness specialists improving their qualifications in Belarusian universities. Apart from that, they are interested in cooperation in veterinary medicine, in the experience of development of Belarus’ sugar industry.”

Uzbek Deputy Agriculture Minister, Director General of the Agriculture Knowledge and Innovation Services Center (AKIS Center) Alisher Turayev said: “Uzbekistan is particularly interested in what Belarus excels at – the mechanization of agriculture. [Belarusian] tractors and cultivators are already used in fields of our country, however, in individual areas. We would like them to be present in all the regions of Uzbekistan because they offer a good value for money.”

The agrarian forum Uzbekistan-Belarus was organized by the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Uzbek Agriculture Ministry.

The Made in Belarus exposition at UzAgroExpo and UzProdExpo has been organized by the exhibition enterprise BelInterExpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The exposition was organized with assistance of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, the Uzbek Agriculture Ministry, and the embassy of Belarus in Uzbekistan.
