Belarusian fabrics manufacturer Orsha Linen Mill to open proprietary store in Kiev

KIEV, 10 April (BelTA) – Orsha Linen Mill intends to open a proprietary store in Kiev, BelTA learned from Lyudmila Zhuravskaya, leading specialist of the Belarusian company’s department for sales in Ukraine and Moldova, on the sidelines of the Made in Belarus expo.

According to the source, the Belarusian company has no proprietary stores in Ukraine for now. Negotiations are in progress to open such a store in Kiev. “I think if we come to terms, the shop will be opened by the end of Q2 2018. It is important that the shop will offer ready-made products with a high added value,” noted Lyudmila Zhuravskaya. Three sites in the Ukrainian capital city are under consideration.

At present fabrics make up 80% of Orsha Linen Mill’s export to Ukraine. “But we are trying to conquer this market with ready-made products. Ukrainian customers are interested in flax. People want quality products albeit at a higher price. We intend to raise the share of ready-made products in the total volume of export to Ukraine up to 30%,” said Lyudmila Zhuravskaya.

In 2017 the company’s export to Ukraine grew by 15% from 2016. “This year we intend to increase shipments by 15%. We intend to reach 1 million meters of fabric per annum. These are considerable figures,” noted the Orsha Linen Mill representative.

At present the Belarusian company has three representatives in Ukraine — two trading houses and an official dealer. Apart from that, the company works with self-employed businessmen.

The Made in Belarus expo is scheduled to take place in the Kiev international expo center on 10-14 April. Taking part in the expo are over 50 Belarusian companies demonstrating their latest products in the spheres of mechanical engineering, petrochemical industry, transport and logistics, agriculture, food, light industry, and tourism. The expo was accompanied by a business program, which includes presentations of Belarusian companies industry by industry. The conference on prospects of Belarus-Ukraine cooperation was the central part of the business program. Representatives of Belarusian and Ukrainian government agencies, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry took part in the event.

The Made in Belarus expo in Kiev has been organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The BelInterExpo enterprise of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the operator. The event has been arranged with assistance of the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, government agencies and business associations of the two countries.
