Belarusian enterprises urged to lower prime costs, increase export

BARANOVICHI, 27 August (BelTA) – It is necessary for Belarusian enterprises to pay close attention to efforts to reduce prime cost and increase export. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he visited OAO Baranovichi Cotton Production Amalgamation (Blakit trademark) on 27 August, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko gave instructions for the company to reduce prime costs by 7-10%. “Put some effort into the prime costs. According to my calculations, you have to reduce the prime costs by another 7-10%,” he said.

The Baranovichi-based company has already put some work into reducing the prime costs. Nevertheless, the head of state gave instructions to think about ways to reduce this parameter even further.

Another instruction given by the Belarus President touched upon export increase. “You have to sell more abroad without losing the domestic market,” noted Alexander Lukashenko. He reminded that the government had been set rigid tasks concerning the matter. “We should not import what we make on our own,” said the head of state. He went on saying that the share of import should be at most 10% in order to encourage competition.

The President also gave instructions to utilize the company’s vacant premises. According to Alexander Lukashenko, the vacant premises should be used by late 2016, in particular, divisions to make ready-made products using the company’s proprietary fabrics will be set up there.

During the tour of the enterprise Alexander Lukashenko changed the pre-approved route. The head of state spent about an hour examining the company’s premises. The President was informed in detail about the current state of affairs at the enterprise.
