Belarusian enterprises in Russian free economic zone in Egypt under consideration

MINSK, 13 January (BelTA) – The operation of several Belarusian enterprises in the Russian industrial zone in Port Said, Egypt is under consideration, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Rachkov.

The Ambassador noted: “We are now considering the possibility of encouraging individual Belarusian enterprises and companies to operate in the emerging Russian industrial zone in Port Said. It would be difficult and economically inadvisable to set up an industrial zone of our own. This is why we are consulting with our Russian partners to determine the terms of operation of our enterprises in this free economic zone.”

The Ambassador added that proposals of the Egyptian side concerning the participation of Belarusian companies in building wastewater treatment installations, in drilling deep water wells, and performing prospecting surveys are under consideration, too.

The possibility of implementing a Belarusian-Egyptian project involving remote sensing of the Earth and space imagery processing looks promising, noted the diplomat. “The Belarusian side is interested in getting several Belarusian companies to take part in the implementation of national infrastructure projects in Egypt, including work with third countries,” said Sergei Rachkov.
