Belarusian civil engineering expo to focus on one-family homes

MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – Problems of building one-family houses using industrial methods will be discussed during the civil engineering expo Stroyexpo 2016, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister Dmitry Semenkevich after the official opening ceremony of the House Expo on 16 March.

The official noted: “Unfortunately, we have failed to secure the targeted increase in one-family industrial housing construction in 2011-2015. Integrated home-building factories have been unable to offer a competitive product and ways to finance such construction. We are going to discuss these problems during Stroyexpo 2016 that will take place in late March.”

Dmitry Semenkevich explained that if a family decides to build a house using small-sized components and sufficient funding is a problem, the construction process can be done intermittently over the course of 5-7 years, with construction materials bought in small batches. “Industrial construction houses can be assembled right away. You can get a ready-made home within virtually one month. The financial side of such construction projects is not without a hitch. Belarusian families would be happy to use this option but they often lack money to pay for the entire house right away,” said the official. According to the Deputy Architecture and Construction Minister, various schemes to finance such construction are supposed to be worked out.

House Expo: Architecture, Design, Construction is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 16-19 March. 16 March is a business day, 17 March is a design day, 18 March is a day of architecture and construction. A number of events will be held during the expo. A contest of landscape projects will take place as well as various presentations and master classes. The expo takes place with assistance of the Architecture and Construction Ministry, the timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom, the Belarusian Union of Industrial Designers, and the Belarusian National Technical University.
