Belarusian Belkommunmash to sell eight trams to Latvian Daugavpils

MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Belkommunmash will sell trams to the Latvian city of Daugavpils, representatives of the company told BelTA.

Belkommunmash has won a tender to sell trams to the Daugavpils city public transport company Daugavpils satiksme. “Now we intend to sign a contract on delivering eight one-section model 802 trams within eight months after the contract is signed,” noted Belkommunmash representatives.

Model 802 is a fast low-floor one-way movement tram with increased comfort. The body is made of composite materials, which are resistant to corrosion. One tram can carry 165 people. Among other things the additional options the customer has requested will include heated rearview mirrors, heated seats for the driver and the fare inspector, and a ramp for passengers with limited mobility. The information system will feature LED-powered destination blinds and public announcement speakers.

Belkommunmash is a leading manufacturer of electric transport for mass transit in Belarus. Since its foundation the company has made over 3,600 trolleybuses and over 500 trams. Belkommunmash vehicles are used in over 40 cities and towns of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Latvia, Serbia, Mongolia, Columbia, and Argentina. The company can make over 350 vehicles per annum.
