Belarusian BelAZ to supply haul truck components to China

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Representatives of OAO BelAZ and China Datang Corporation (CDT) signed a contract for the delivery of components for Belarusian haul trucks to the tune of over $360,000 in Beijing, representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in China told BelTA.

The contract was signed on the sidelines of the session of the trade and economic cooperation commission of the Belarus-China intergovernmental cooperation committee. Possibilities of future contacts in the area of mechanical engineering and power engineering were discussed with China Datang Corporation representatives.

The press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA that Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas took part in the session of the commission. The session was chaired by Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Chervyakov and Chinese Deputy Commerce Minister Fu Ziying. The sides discussed topical aspects of Belarus-China trade and economic cooperation, including the development of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone and the advancement of credit and investment ties. Bilateral cooperation between Belarusian and Chinese state companies was mentioned as well as regional contacts and the increase in the export of Belarusian merchandise and services to China.

The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) is scheduled to take place in Shanghai on 5-10 November. Andrei Dapkiunas underlined the extreme importance of the expo for Belarus as an opportunity to invigorate export deliveries of Belarusian products to China. The Belarusian diplomat described the expo as a unique chance for Belarusian companies to strengthen their position on one of the world’s largest markets. The deputy minister of foreign affairs also drew attention to the importance of persistently forming a balanced trade balance in Belarus-China trade and underlined it is possible to reach the goal taking into account interests of both countries.

The session of the trade and economic cooperation commission took place in anticipation of the autumn session of the Belarus-China intergovernmental cooperation committee.
