Belarusian Amkodor ships first timber harvester to Ukraine

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian mechanical engineering company Amkodor has shipped the first timber harvester to Ukraine, the company’s press service told BelTA.

According to the source, a Ukrainian logging enterprise will receive an Amkodor 2551 timber harvester. The machine is designed to fell trees, cut off branches, and cross-cut logs into sections of a specified length in the course of clear-cut harvesting operations.

The machine is powered by a 180hp diesel engine made by the Belarusian engine manufacturer MMZ and is fitted with a harvester head designed for wood of coniferous trees. It can fell and process logs up to 670mm in diameter.

The harvester is also equipped with an electronic system to set timber harvesting parameters and keep records of the harvested timber.

Ukrainian logging companies have already had a chance to get familiar with Amkodor machines. They previously received Amkodor 2662-01 forwarders, which are used for collecting, loading, and transporting logs and other kinds of round timber in the course of timber harvesting operations. The machines can also be used for loading and unloading operations, for sorting and storing timber. The Belarusian company received good feedback that mentioned good performance and reliability of the products.
