Belarusian agricultural producers urged to explore new markets

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Belarus needs to expand supplies of its agricultural produce and food products to the non-CIS countries, Member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and Agribusiness of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Aleksandr Subbotin told the media on the sidelines of the international exhibition Belagro 2019, BelTA has learned.

When asked on how to address the emerging problems in the Belarusian agricultural supplies to Russia, Aleksandr Subbotin said: “We need to find a compromise. We need to engage in active talks with representatives of our main market, the Russian Federation. At the same time we need to reduce our dependence on the Russian market. We need to sell at least one third of the products to the non-CIS countries.”

He named China, Near East and Africa as promising markets for Belarus. “Access to the EU has been gradually opening for Belarusian companies as well,” Aleksandr Subbotin said.
