Belarus, Zimbabwe sign agreement on production, assembly and sale of buses

MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Zimbabwe signed an agreement on the production, assembly and sale of buses. The document was inked during the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Zimbabwe on 16 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This agreement and a contract to supply MAZ bus kits to Zimbabwe were signed at the meeting of the Belarus-Zimbabwe standing commission on cooperation.

According to Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov, the potential for bilateral cooperation is nearly limitless and this is in many ways due to the strong support provided by the two heads of state.

“Belarusian agricultural machinery that was inspected during the visit had been delivered to Zimbabwe during the current third stage of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Mechanization Program. The delivery of the machinery showed that bilateral agreements are being implemented,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remarked.

The Belarusian delegation was shown 189 tractors and seven combines transferred to Zimbabwe. By the end of April 2025, another 30 combines and 30 grain trucks are expected to arrive from Belarus.

On the sidelines of the event, Maksim Ryzhenkov met with Obert Jiri, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of Zimbabwe, to discuss the diversification of supplies and upcoming exchange visits between the two agriculture ministries.

“The visit of the Belarusian foreign minister to Zimbabwe reaffirmed mutual interest in promoting a multifaceted partnership. The agreements reached during the visit will pave the way for new bilateral projects,” the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
