MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Vietnam intend to expand cooperation in customs affairs, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.

Matters concerning bilateral cooperation were discussed as Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu.

Three international agreements, which regulate Belarus-Vietnam interaction in customs affairs, are actively used in practical work now. Those are a basic agreement on cooperation and mutual administrative aid in customs affairs and two memorandums. The source noted that a free trade agreement had been signed within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. In furtherance of the agreement a protocol on digital data sharing as part of a digital system for certification and verification of product origin is going through intrastate reconciliation in Belarus.

The presenting of a Vietnamese government award to Head of the State Institute for Advanced Studies and Retraining of Personnel of Customs Bodies of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Goshin, who had previously worked as an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Belarus to Vietnam, was another important reason for the meeting.

The well-developed base, on which Belarus-Vietnam relations in customs affairs are built, is a proof of mutual interest in bilateral cooperation. The proof testifies to potential for expanding cooperation, Belarus’ Customs noted.
