Belarus-Uzbekistan trade up 5.4% in January-November 2020

MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – In January-November 2020 the trade between Belarus and Uzbekistan increased by 5.4% to $225 million, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Tashkent.

“The export of Belarusian goods to Uzbekistan amounted to $187.1 million, up 10.8% compared to January-November 2019. The import from Uzbekistan decreased by almost 15% to $37.9 million. Belarus posted trade surplus of $149.2 million for the period,” representatives of the embassy said.

According to the diplomatic mission, in January-November 2020 Belarus significantly increased exports of beef to Uzbekistan - up to $38.6 million (up 2.3 times, compared to the same period in 2019). Supplies of poultry meat increased 1.2 times, milk powder 1.8 times, sugar - 4.5 times, confectionery - 8.5 times, chocolate - 2.4 times. The export of polymers increased 5.3 times ($4 million worth of shipments), hygiene products - 135.3 times, detergents and cleaners - 117.8 times.

According to the embassy, Belarus’ major exports to Uzbekistan includes a wide range of goods: all in all, more than 360 commodity items.“Belarus’ major imports from Uzbekistan are cotton yarn and knitwear, fresh fruit and vegetables. In January-November of last year, Belarus’ import of watermelons and melons rose 2.3 times, that of other fresh fruit - 2.2 times, nuts - 3.7 times, apricots and cherries - 1.9 times," the Belarusian diplomatic mission informed.
