MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) - Belarus and Ukraine signed a protocol on changes and additions to the bilateral intergovernmental agreement of 17 December 1992 which provides for the complete liberalization of road transportation. The document was signed by Belarus’ Minister of Transport and Communications Aleksei Avramenko and Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Vladislav Krikliy, BelTA has learned.
“Ukraine has become the third country with which we have agreed on a permit-free transportation system. I hope that in April the MPs will consider the relevant draft law on ratification of this protocol,” Aleksei Avramenko said.
For his part, Vladislav Krikliy stressed that the liberalization of road transportation should start working by May. “The bill must be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada. I would like to see this issue on the agenda in February-March," he added.
The parties also discussed bilateral cooperation in water, rail and aviation transport. The Department for Aviation of Belarus and the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine have initialed a working agreement on cooperation in flight worthiness. The document aims to simplify procedures for aviation authorities to recognize certification documents issued for exported civil aviation equipment.
