MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – Belarus will take part in the EU’s new program of technical support for the countries of the Eastern Partnership EU4Energy, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Energy Ministry.

“Last week the Energy Ministry played host to a meeting between Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Janez Kopac and expert on renewable energy and energy efficiency, deputy head of the Eastern Partnership assistance department Svetlana Karpishina. The parties discussed Belarus’ participation in the EU’s new program of technical support for the countries of the Eastern Partnership EU4Energy and its implementation,” the press service said.

The program of technical assistance is scheduled for implementation through 2020. The program includes events aimed at improving the legislation in the gas and electric energy sectors, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy. “The parties agreed to work out one-year and four-year action plans for Belarus' priority areas,” the ministry said.
