Belarus to ship about 60 buses to Chuvashia by yearend

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – MAZ, the managing company of the holding company BelavtoMAZ, will ship about 60 buses to Chuvashia by the end of the year, BelTA has learned from the company’s website.

Keys from ten MAZ-made low-floor buses were handed over to representatives of Crocus-Auto, public transport operator of the city of Cheboksary. MAZ Deputy Director General Gennady Skitov noted that about 60 buses will be delivered to Chuvashia by the end of the year. “We believe Chuvashia residents will appreciate our buses. We hope that as early as next year a great number of MAZ buses will be in operation in many Russian cities,” he said.

Head of the Chuvash Republic Mikhail Ignatiev thanked the Belarusian delegation for their efforts to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and timely fulfillment of agreements. Belarus’ First Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky noted that the two countries are doing a lot to strengthen bilateral cooperation and achieve results in joint projects. “These buses made by Minsk Automobile Works are meant to make the city of Cheboksary a better place to live. I really hope that they will be appreciated by the city residents, will enable faster passenger transportation and improve the local public transport system. This will be our joint contribution to that,” he said.

In line with the public transport reform, 14 bus routes will be amended and 16 routes will be cancelled in Cheboksary. The structure of the bus fleet will be streamlined: more than 200 high-capacity and medium-duty buses will be purchased, while the number of mini-buses will drop significantly. This will allow minimizing traffic jams and increasing the comfort and safety of passenger transportation.
