Belarus to continue dismantling temporary restrictions on dairy export to Russia

MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarus will continue working to dismantle temporary restrictions on the export of dairy products to Russia in line with the signed roadmap, BelTA learned from Aleksei Bogdanov, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

According to the source, the Russian food quality watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has rescinded its ban on importing dairy products in containers of over 2.5 liters from the entire territory of Belarus. The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) legislation allows banning import from an entire country in view of a poor epizootic situation. Rosselkhoznadzor has rescinded the ban, which violated EAEU rules, yet only the Belarusian companies specified by the roadmap can export their products to Russia. The Agriculture and Food Ministry representative noted they would continue working to remove the remaining temporary restrictions.

The next meeting of Belarusian and Russian representatives for negotiating dairy trade will take place in Moscow on Wednesday, 27 June.

The roadmap allows several Belarusian companies to resume export to Russia. Those are the dairy plants in Baranovichi and Lyakhovichi, the Volkovysk-based dairy company Bellakt, KPUP Mozyr Dairy Products, OAO Turov Dairy Industrial Complex, and OAO Lida Milk Plant.
