Belarus to advance cooperation with China in trade, investments

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – Belarus is intent on advancing cooperation with China in the sphere of trade and investments. Director General of the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Sergei Nabeshko mentioned it during the 8th China Guangzhou Annual Investment Conference in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Nabeshko said that the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus are connected by many years of cooperation based on vigorous trade and the realization of major investment projects. China is traditionally one of Belarus’ most important partners in trade, economy, and investments.

In his words, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also provides assistance with the promotion of trade relations between the two countries. “We have a rich history of cooperation. Back in 1993 we signed an agreement with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The agreement served as the basis for advancing bilateral relations between the chambers of commerce, for sharing business and commerce information, for organizing expos and fairs, business missions, and so on,” the official said.

Sergei Nabeshko noted that hundreds of events had been held over the years of work with Chinese partners. Belarus’ national exhibitions have been held in China many times. Belarusian delegations regularly visited China. They organized business meetings and attended various exhibitions and fairs. “Despite the decrease in business activity due to the pandemic we continued developing and enhancing our cooperation online. We considerably stepped up this interaction in the last two years. Over 40 such events involving Chinese partners and representatives of the Chinese private sector and the Belarusian one were held in 2021. It allowed us to reach pre-pandemic intensity,” he said.

Sergei Nabeshko said that over 300 companies, which are members of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, prioritize cooperation with China in their profile. “Together with partner chambers and organizations of China every year we give the companies an opportunity to realize new projects and find reliable business partners. They include large commercial companies and state-run organizations as well as small and medium private companies. At present our partners include 30 Chinese councils for promoting international trade as well as associations from various provinces of China, with which we’ve signed a cooperation agreement and have arranged a lot of various joint events,” the executive pointed out.

Sergei Nabeshko stressed that the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will continue putting maximum effort into advancing and enhancing Belarus-China economic relations.
