Belarus, South Korea finish negotiations on market access

MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Belarus and the Republic of Korea have signed a protocol on market access for goods and services as part of Belarus’ accession to the WTO, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The protocol was signed by Belarus’ First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yeudachenka and South Korean Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Jeong Marn Ki.

The Republic of Korea became the 11th state to round off talks with Belarus on market access.

Andrei Yeudachenka thanked the South Korean partners for their constructive work and underlined that the Republic of Korea had become the first country to sign a bilateral protocol with Belarus on market access after almost a ten-year break. The previous protocol was signed in 2007.

“The signing of this protocol will send a clear message to other countries to round off talks on Belarus’ accession to the WTO promptly. We see this accession as an impetus for further economic development,” Andrei Yeudachenka noted.
