Belarus, Slovakia to team up in patient-specific anti-tumor vaccine production

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Slovakia will cooperate in the development of patient-specific vaccines to treat cancer. The corresponding memorandum on bilateral cooperation in research and education between the Vitebsk State Medical University and Comenius University in Bratislava will be signed during the visit of Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico to NatiVita Company in Beshenkovich, Vitebsk Oblast on 25 November.

“Cooperation will promote better training of the personnel and improve qualifications of the academic staff, contribute to science, including the development of modern diagnostic test systems and patient-specific vaccines to treat oncological diseases,” said NatiVita Director General Alexei Sychev.

An agreement is expected to be signed between NatiVita and Unipharma, the biggest pharmaceutical distributor, during the visit of the Slovak delegation to Belarus. “The move will open up opportunities to register and distribute our products in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland. The opportunity to conduct joint clinical tests at Unipharma’s medical institutions is of great significance for us,” Alexei Sychev said.

Apart from that, NatiVita and the research facility BioMed will sign an agreement on cooperation in research. The agreement aims at scientific cooperation, the exchange of technologies and experience between scientists of the two countries and also joitn research.

The pharmaceutical company NatiVita is a factory specializing in making medications to treat malignant tumors as well as a number of autoimmune and serious infectious diseases. Slovakia is taking part in the project both as a technological and investment partner.
