Belarus, Slovakia mull over cooperation in nuclear personnel training

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Slovakia are considering the possibility of developing cooperation in personnel training for nuclear power industry, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Guryanov said after the 12th session of the Belarus-Slovakia joint commission on cooperation in trade, economy, science and technology on 2 October, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Guryanov chaired the Belarusian part of the joint commission. He thanked State Secretary of the Economy Ministry of the Slovak Republic Rastislav Chovanec for constructive work. He noted that the Slovak delegation comprised high-ranking officials. Apart from the plenary session of the commission, the program of their visit to Belarus included bilateral meetings and the Belarus-Slovakia business forum. Ideas for many new projects in areas of mutual interest were discussed.

Alexander Guryanov noted that Belarus and Slovakia are engaged in an active dialogue over trade, economic, and political cooperation. He expressed gratitude to the Slovak side for the support in enhancing Belarus’ credit rating.

Alexander Guryanov also believes that the bilateral cooperation should be developed also within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union. He noted that Belarus and Slovakia have outlined a number of areas for cooperation in these two organizations.

Besides, the Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said it is important to develop cooperation in upgrading the enterprises of the petrochemical industry and establishing contacts in the sectors of production and power engineering.
