MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – Belarus sees great prospects for supplying machinery and food to Afghanistan, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich told reporters on 15 April, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Ulakhovich noted that great opportunities are opening up for Belarus which is eager to supply agricultural machines, construction equipment, municipal and other types of vehicles to Afghanistan. Traditionally, Belarus exports petrochemical products and tractors to this country. The export of these goods will also be increased. “Belarus is ready to offer a wide range of products to Afghan partners, from foodstuffs to machinery for road building, restoration of infrastructure and industry,” Vladimir Ulakhovich stressed.

The Belarusian head of state said that Belarus is ready to take an active part in restoring Afghanistan’s economy. As he commented on the meeting, Director of the International Affairs Department of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Khash Rasouli said that it is likely to give a strong impetus to the development of trade and economic relations between Belarus and Afghanistan.

The visit of a delegation of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries and large Afghan enterprises is expected to become the first practical step towards closer cooperation. On 15 April, the BCCI hosted a meeting of Belarusian and Afghan businessmen.
